When I went to visit my uncle recently with my family, he was very accommodating. He provided two guest rooms for my family. I had our two boys share one room and my wife and I were in the other. It was fairly overheated in the house, but the guest rooms had their own cooling units. They were actually wall A/C systems and they seemed to work alright at first. I didn’t really give it much of a thought to be honest. Eventually when we were tired and went to bed though, the children kept complaining that they were not able to sleep. At first it was because it was too overheated in their room. We adjusted the wall A/C unit though and figured they would have plenty of cooling to rest easy. Next thing we knew, they were complaining that the A/C unit was way too loud. We were using the wall A/C unit in our room too and it wasn’t that noisy. We finally decided to swap rooms with our boys so that they could finally just go to sleep. Of course, they were able to sleep fine after switching rooms, but suddenly I wasn’t able to sleep. The boys were right, everytime the wall unit would crank on, it made this terribly loud noise that would wake me up every single time! I actually kind of wished that I didn’t swap rooms with the boys, but either way I would have been waking up through the night. Either they would wake us complaining about how they couldn’t sleep, or I would have to wake up because of the noisy air conditioner. When my uncle asked if we slept alright, I just shook my head yes, even though I didn’t sleep well in the slightest.
