The central nervous system in the human body plays a role in several aspects of our well-being, especially our overall mood! There are several factors that lead to feeling stressed or anxious! Work, money, family, relationships, time management, and health are just some examples of common stressors.
Studies show that temperature plays a big role in our overall well-being and health, and climate can affect our physical health, and our mental and emotional health.
Cold temperatures can lead to depression, due to the lack of sunlight. Hot temperatures can lead to irritability, due to rising temperatures and discomfort, luckily, studies show that regular heating and cooling can have a positive impact on overall health, and has calming effects! I will describe more than one scenario to help you understand how heating and cooling can be calming on the body and mind. Here is the first scenario: Tom lives up north and the winters are brutal. On one very cold day, Tom had to work late. By the time he got out of work, it was pitch black outside. His car windshield was frozen, and he blasted the heat in the car, waiting for it to warm up. He was shivering cold, and when he got home and got out of the car the brutal, cold air hit his body again causing him to feel uneasy and sad simultaneously. He entered his heated house, with radiant heated floors and a fireplace. He instantly felt calm. Scenario two: Brenda lives in the south and the summers are seriously hot. One Summer day, she was going out to eat with her boyfriend. They had to wait outside in the heat because the restaurant was packed. Brenda felt irritable, as soon as they went inside in the air conditioner, she felt calm.
