When we lost power, we could not open the windows due to the storm to let air in, and we were standing in stagnant, non air conditioned air.
My name is Ariella and I’m going to tell you about the time I lost power and a/c during the summer time for a week, it was summer, about two years ago. I live in an area that is known to be a hurricane hotspot. The fact that a bad hurricane was coming was very clear from all of the news and social media, so I prepared myself like I consistently do. I got the basics such as bottled water, batteries, and canned foods. Usually when there is a hurricane, I don’t lose power or if I do lose power it is not for very long. I live near a hospital so that helps However, this hurricane was different. The gusting winds and rain did damage to our area. I feel lucky to be alive, but losing power and a/c while I was in the summer was not fun, but obviously, power is required for thermostats and the air conditioners to work. When we lost power, we could not open the windows due to the storm to let air in, and we were standing in stagnant, non air conditioned air. I did everything I could to cool off, but it was super hot and humid without the beloved air conditioner. I think the situation could have been so much worse, and I think I was not alone in this, but nothing about this was enjoyable, however luckily, the we had backup battery powered charging packs for our phones, so my husband and I played games on our phones for hours to keep us occupied and to keep our minds off of the fact that were were dripping with sweat from the lack of a/c. I was so grateful for the Heating and A/C professionals who worked hard to get everyone’s air conditioner working again after the storm.
