I’ve lived in the same area my entire life, I was born up North, but my parents moved to the South absolutely shortly after that, and my body is pretty accustomed to the warm temperatures, but it still struggles with the pollen.
My pollen irritations feel like they have gotten worse every single year.
My parents have typically been actually good about swapping out the air filters in the HVAC system, upgrading our media air cleaner, and even keeping an air filter in my bedroom for extra protection while I’m sleeping. My pollen irritations are the worst when I am waking up in the afternoon, so I know the small media air cleaner actually helps with that. I recently discovered that for the gas furnace, radiant floor heating could actually be a better option than the central heater, but central oil furnaces blow heated air through the air ducts and out of the air vents, since the oil furnaces aren’t used that much throughout the year, they can tend to build up a lot of gunk as well as that blows out with the warm air, radiant heated flooring eliminates the need for air vents because it simply radiates heat into the room it is in, this would be great for my pollen irritations since I wouldn’t be breathing in any pollutants or built-up gunk. I’m not sure if swapping out the method in their condo would be doable at this point, but it’s absolutely something that I would like keeping in mind for the future. I would like to buy a home sometime in the next few years.
