My sister’s birthday is coming up, and we’ve been debating on the best gift for her 40th, especially because this birthday is special.
She has been battling a terminal illness, and we recently learned she was in remission.
After several discussions with my two other siblings, we agreed that a new home would be the most thoughtful gift. We could revamp the place with the necessary medical equipment to make sure she’s comfortable. We found a quaint, lovely home a few blocks from me with enough room. My first concern was about the boiler because she needs a comfortable environment as her immune system recovers. We don’t know much about heating equipment, so we called my HVAC serviceman and asked him to help with the heater maintenance. The heating technician inspected the system and informed us that the house has an electric heating system. He noted that the electric heat pump was damaged and required immediate replacement. Luckily, my brother had noticed some HVAC products for sale in a nearby store, so he drove and got the necessary parts within no time. The HVAC specialist was friendly, so I chatted with him as he carried out the heat pump installation. An electric HVAC system sounded expensive to maintain, so I asked if he had some energy-saving tips. I learned that installing a HEPA filter would make a huge difference, especially since the heater would be on for long periods. He suggested installing a wireless thermostat so my sister wouldn’t have to make endless trips to adjust the temperature. We all agreed these clever inventions would be great, so we asked him to install them this coming weekend. I can’t wait to see the look on my sister’s face next month when she unwraps the gift box with the keys to her new home!
