It’s no easy feat going through this sort of Summer.
- When I took a job this far south, that was one of the concerns I had about making the move.
For sure, the job responsibilities were also challenging. But I had worked a long time for this shot. Plus, coming down for the final interview sold me. The office I now work in has the best commercial HVAC. There is no worrying about the air conditioning while at work. With zone controlled HVAC, I even have a thermostat right inside my office. But figuring out how to be comfortable and not spend a fortune on air conditioning at home was a different matter. Indeed, the place I live has good residential HVAC. The HVAC equipment itself has some miles on it. But the seller had all the records and never missed a single HVAC maintenance appointment. Plus, before he put the house on the market, he upgraded with a smart thermostat. So that definitely helps when it comes to the level of efficiency. Still, I was just spending mad amounts of money on cooling my house. Finally, I figured out just what I was doing wrong. Of course, I kept up with the air conditioning tune ups from the HVAC company. And I also made sure that house was sealed tight and I was pulling the shades to stop the direct sunlight heating. But I was starting with air conditioning to early at home. So this Spring, I simply left the windows open and got more accustomed to living with temperatures in the mid to upper 80’s. So when the Summer heat hit, just a bit of air conditioning goes much further now that I’m more accustomed to the climate.
