Reducing unnecessary waste is a great way to save money and energy.
By implementing energy saving measures and automated systems, businesses can save money each and every year.
For six long years, wasted energy has been a problem affecting my small business. When I learned more about automated solutions, I was intrigued by the benefits of an energy monitoring system. Energy monitoring systems work in real time to monitor and manage energy consumption. These systems have integrated controls that allow the business owner to see trends in the energy usage. These trends can make it easier to identify areas where energy is wasted. When you can identify these areas, you can work on ways to save money and energy. After four months of energy monitoring, it was easy to see the bulk of my wasted energy was happening on the third shift. Most of the lights in the warehouse were all on the same switch. One flip of the switch meant turning on the power in the whole building, instead of in the small area where my third shift crew was working. The energy monitoring system helped identify this problem. After that, I realized that lighting controls could help as well. Now the lights and rooms are all on separate controls. When the workers are in section A, the lights detect motion and automatically come on. They do not turn on in the whole building which is currently saving my business about 15% on our monthly utility costs. The new integrated controls are going to help me build and grow my business.
