About eight months ago I met a really great guy named Henry at the local gym. Henry was clearly a long-time and dedicated gym member. His muscles are beautifully sculpted and toned. There isn’t an ounce of fat on him. I was only trying out the gym due to a free trial through an incentive offered at work. I was hoping to use the tanning beds, sauna and relax in the hot tub. When I spotted this handsome man riding the stationary bike, I sat down next to him. I then pedaled as if I was in a race. I followed him to the treadmill and sprinted. I burned a tremendous amount of calories on the elliptical. We made our way through the various weight lifting machines and chatted together. I even laid down on the weight bench and lifted free weights. I used kettlebells and a weighted ball just so I could keep his attention. My efforts paid off because we kept talking and he asked me out. I was very thankful that the date wasn’t until the following week because I could hardly walk for the next four days. During our first date, Henry told me all about all his hobbies. He is an active person. He works out six days per week at the gym. He also finds time to hike, cycle, kayak, paddle board, play soccer and run in marathons. He loves to swim, zipline and rock climb. I pretended I also participate in these same types of activities. I didn’t admit that I spent the majority of my free time reading on my ipad and watching cat videos. Since I really liked Henry, I jumped into this more active lifestyle. At first, I wasn’t convinced I would survive it. I was always in pain and exhausted. However, as I improved my physical condition, I started to love it.
