Despite the change in times, I still enjoy getting physical newspapers and reading them everyday.
- I have had a subscription since I was in college when I had them delivered to the house I shared with my friends.
These days I don’t know anyone who actually gets a newspaper anymore. Our small town newspaper closed down last year and I had to switch to the larger newspaper that covers the entire county. Unless I want to switch to national news, this newspaper is the best that I have to choose from. I like to know what is going on in my community and the surrounding area. You learn about things like new hospitals and roads going up long before the rest of the public sees the construction projects begin. I was shocked when I read yesterday about a local honey farm that is making waves with their new honey bee rescue service. Instead of calling an exterminator to come and kill bees on your property, the honey farm will send someone out who will successfully collect the queen and then get all of the bees to follow her into a wood box that is taken back to their honey farm. They set up a new hive with the new bees and they’re able to live in peace while their honey is processed and sold back to the public. It’s a great alternative to killing honey bees senselessly, especially considering how important they are for the whole environment. Of course the honey farm is also happy to get bees without paying for them.
