It’s essentially always nice to surprise a customer.
I easily had the ability to surprise someone this weekend. When I went to a residential carpet cleaning job, the lady called me because she was having a birthday celebration for her young kid. Two mornings before the celebration, the kids dropped a glass of yellow drink on the carpet. The yellow stain on the beige carpet was looking horrible and it was right in front of the kitchen table. The lady sent me a couple of pictures of the stain and I felt pretty sure that the yellow dye would come out of the carpet with no issues. The lady told me that she didn’t have anything to lose, however she did not expect me to easily remove the stains. She had no idea what else to try. I sprayed chemicals on the stain and I let the solvent get rid of the stain. I placed a steam iron on the solvent which helps the chemicals operate better. In approximately half an hour, the yellow stain totally would be gone. I lifted the corner of the rag to see if there was any yellow left. I was satisfied when I did not see anything, so I called the client for the reveal. She was genuinely amazed when all of the yellow stain was gone. She called the carpet cleaning corporation where I task and she talked about my work. I was able to get a fat tip from the client and a 5% raise in my commissions. My boss said it was the sixth time a client has called to say amazing things about my work! He remains severely impressed with the quality of my work.
