Last Monday, I started servicing all of the AC units inside of apartment building 1.
I work as a maintenance engineer for a large apartment complex.
The lot has 12 apartment buildings and there are 16 apartments inside of each building. Before the summer season began, I serviced every single AC unit in each of the apartments on the property. Last month, I started with building 1. I only made it through three AC services, before I found a major problem. The tenant had a large clock placed in front of the door for the HVAC unit. The door has slats because there has to be proper airflow in order for the HVAC unit to properly work. When I realized that the tenant had a large piece of furniture in front of the door, I had to move it. I called another one of the guys that works for the property. He met me inside of the apartment and the two of us carefully moved the furniture. Inside the HVAC closet I found a great deal of dust and indoor pollutants. Since there was barely any air flow, the HVAC unit was very dirty. The machine was only a year old and the motor was already making a slight sound. The manager sent a note to the tenant of that apartment after I left. He told the tenant not to place the furniture in front of the HVAC closet or he would be responsible for any repairs.
