I have a neighbour who recently got her first puss and I made it a point to give her plenty of guidance.
- First I insisted she had to make sure that she had fun with the puss and stayed in its presence.
Doing so would make it as friendly as possible. Second, I had to tell her to purchase all the crucial items like bowls, scratching posts, litter boxes etc. When my neighbour brought the puss to her house, I encouraged her to limit its movement to a single room, so that this puss can get familiar with its new space! She accepted my advice and after a week, she told me the puss was happier. It wasn’t as reserved as when she first got it. The third care tip I almost omitted to tell her was to make sure she gets more air conditioning filters, which sounded strange at the time. However I told my neighbor that she did not know how much pet hair cats and dogs can produce. Pet hair is great for clogging up a/c filter so I pushed her to buy a whole box of a/c filters to last. I think my neighbor dismissed the advice at first, until she owned the puss for about a year. She came to the realization just how much they can shed. Only then did she do as I recommended and buy a box of Heating, Ventilation, and A/C filters from a nearby aircon business. Since I have 3 cats ,I was aware of the information and have to change my HEPA filters often.
