All of last year, my family and I hunkered down in the air conditioning safety of our home. The pandemic was raging around us and we were taking every precaution we could. And mostly, that meant not straying far from the heating and cooling comfort of our house. Like most other families, we gave up a lot in the name of safety for ourselves and our fellow human beings. That meant no vacation as well. So during the rest of 2020, the idea of a great vacation in 2021 was the mantra. However, although we are vaccinated, the number of cases precluded us from taking the trip that we wanted to again this year. But we did get out on the road this summer and out of the air conditioning fo home. For us, that felt like a win. And we just packed up the car, cranked the HVAC cooling and sought out some adventure. While we still weren’t eating in the air conditioning of restaurants, we were able to enjoy all the outside stuff we wanted to. Then we picked up take out and took it back to the hotel. And the hotel had just the best HVAC cooling. It was one of those big wall units that really cranks out the cooling air. We did this sort of trip several times this year and it was actually a very fine substitute for the big trip that we had wanted to take but couldn’t. Perhaps next year will be the year that we can fly to that special destination. But the fact that we were able to travel at all and with great HVAC comfort does make up for it a bit.
