It’s as though I’m dealing with an invading force at times.
I keep threatening the boys that I’ll just go get a job and then they will have to spend their days in the day camps or with a babysitter.
This scares them a bit but not enough to make the difference I’m looking for. Thankfully, another summer is behind me and the boys are back in school. And I have the air conditioning in my house all to myself again. That is, until they get home from school. Still it’s a win for me. We live in an area where the summers are really brutal hot. I didn’t feel great about pushing the kids out of the HVAC cooling when they were little. So my husband and I put in a pool so they could be outside in the heat but in the pool as well. That worked for a while. And still, the boys will get outside of the air conditioning to swim a bit. But not like they once did. Now, all they want to do is stay inside the HVAC cooling to do the online gaming thing. Of course, this turns into a fight most times and I have to be referee. During the summer, I envy my husband and his office with the zone controlled HVAC. There are none of our boys running wild in there. That actually was sort of a devious plan of mine. I’d drop the boys at dad’s office and let them enjoy that air conditioning while I got some peace in my own air conditioning. However, I haven’t had the grit to do that stunt yet. Perhaps I’ll go for that trick next summer.
