I wanted to have some pinstripes added to my car.
I called our local auto shop and asked if they did custom paint jobs. He asked what I had in mind, and I told him I just wanted pinstripes on the sides of my car and along the hood. There was another man who came on the phone. He wanted to know if the vehicle detailing was because of an accident, or because I had a personal preference. I told him I just wanted hand painted pinstripes. When I heard his chuckle, I knew I had called the wrong company. He said that vehicle detailing had to do with cleaning the entire vehicle. They would polish the dashboard, clean and sanitize the entire inside, and polish the glass inside and out. If I wanted a full vehicle detailing, they would also scrub the tires, polish the hubcaps, and buff small scratches out of the paint before applying wax. I was glad the man couldn’t see me, because I was so embarrassed. He told me that I had made a mistake many people make. They did have a guy in the paint department who would be able to hand paint the pinstripes I want, and he gave me the number and extension in case he didn’t transfer me properly. I now had to tell this guy what I wanted when I said I wanted vehicle detailing on my car. This time I didn’t make the same mistake, and I told him I wanted some customization done on my paint job. I didn’t like the all white look of my car. I wanted bright blue pinstripes.
