It was pretty upsetting when the police came to our door with our son.
He was apparently at a big party drinking while he was underage.
Well, fortunately the police officers didn’t want to put him in jail and told us to make sure this never happened again. We had a stern talk with our son to make sure he knew the risks of alcohol and how it wasn’t a good thing to be partying like that. We said it could also lead to other drugs and that was something we didn’t want him getting into. While we were being serious, all he could talk about was the uncomfortable temperature control settings in the police cruiser. He said those officers were definitely cranking the A/C so that he would not be comfortable in the back, like cruel and unusual punishment. We paused for a moment and I asked him if he was on drugs. He said he wasn’t but he might have been a little drunk. Oh, he was drunk alright and we made sure to ground him for a long time so that he would learn his lesson. I mean overall, our son is a great kid and he has aspirations of being an HVAC professional. He will never be successful in life though if he is ending up in the jail for doing stupid things like drinking and driving. Fortunately he was smart enough not to do something stupid like that, but we don’t want to see it happen down the road. He ended up cranking the A/C in his room and sleeping it off and we spoke again in the morning with pancakes and bacon.
