My mom and dad retired and they decided to sell their house and move south. They love the area and my Dad enjoys playing golf three days a week. I wasn’t upset that they made the decision, but my sister was really mad at first. She thought my mom and dad were abandoning her. My mom and dad were talking about moving to a warmer climate for the past 10 years. It really wasn’t a surprise when they finally decided to sell the house. I secretly hoped that it would take a long time to sell, but my parents put the house on the market for a great selling price. They had a great offer in less than six weeks. My parents moved a couple of weeks after the sale closed. My mom and dad have experienced a little bit of trouble adjusting to the extremely warm temperatures. They decided to move during the summer when the temperatures were the highest of the year. My mom and dad were not used to the humidity or the temperatures. They had to buy a dehumidifier for the living room. My mom and dad thought that the humid air was hot and thick. The dehumidifier really helped remove a lot of the excess moisture. I know they use the dehumidifier every day. I can hear it running in the background when I talk to my mom on the phone. If it helps, then I don’t think they care if it costs a fortune for the electric bill. Until they adjust to the warm temperatures, they will probably run the AC and dehumidifier all day.
