Since I stayed here for undergraduate school, I wasn’t eager to move away as soon as I had my diploma in hand.
My parents, aunts and uncles, and grandparents all live in this city to this day. But when my girlfriend wanted to move closer to her parents following their car accident, I offered to move with her. We fell deeper in love and got married, but we weren’t particularly happy with the house we had purchased a few years after our initial move. There was structural damage done to the house that was repaired before we purchased it. One headache was getting a new air conditioner and ventilation system inside that dusty old place. It drastically improved the indoor climate, but I was still set on moving to a better house as soon as possible. At the very least, the newer air conditioner made our house more valuable than it was when we purchased it. Our real estate agent told us that an HVAC system’s age and condition are two of the biggest factors for a buyer when they’re looking for a new home. If the air conditioner or furnace are getting close to the age where they need to be replaced, the buyer has to factor that into the cost of the house or condominium. When they see a newer air conditioner, that’s an immediate savings compared to a different property. And since many people sell their homes with old air conditioners inside, it puts you a step above the competition.
