Did you see the kitten?

All of us had gotten our child a kitten for her birthday.

It was pure colorless with a pink bow, just like she had asked.

Last week, my wife asked if I had seen the kitten? I hadn’t seen the cat, but it didn’t bother me that it may have just up and left. I wasn’t a dog lover, but our child was. She cried for the next 3 afternoons, as she distraught that her kitty had died, or something had eaten it. Since the dog had never been out of the house, I was pretty sure nothing had eaten it. I had seen an occasional mouse in our house, but it wasn’t big enough to eat a small cat. When I said this, my child wailed in displeasure. My wife and I were on a mission to find a small colorless cat. She looked like a fluff ball and I couldn’t understand how she could be lost. I ended up going into the basement. I kept hearing some scuffling over by the gas furnace. I was sure it had to be the cat. I thought that she may have gotten downstairs when someone went down to do laundry. She would have found her way to the warmest section in the basement, which was the gas furnace. I looked all over, but I didn’t see anything, but a ball of aged clothes that my wife had discarded. Leaving the clothing by the gas furnace wasn’t the smartest thing to do, so I picked them up to tell my wife where I found them. When the clothes moved, I jumped and screamed. Wrapped up in the clothing, was a small bundle of fur. The dog had found a venue to snuggle where it was moderate from the heat of the gas furnace.
