My Grandfather was consistently inventing things that he needed.
One time, he had a huge amount of weeds in the yard and made a homemade weed eater to trim the weeds.
I’d never seen anything like it until maybe 10 years later when I saw them for sale in the hardware store. My Grandfather simply laughed and said “imagine that” and walked away. I would have been somewhat bothered if I thought of an invention a long while before someone else did. I would’ve thought about all the currency I could have made with the miraculous invention and how unusual my life would be. My Grandpa even made his own propane oil furnace from scratch using some parts that were lying around the basement. I saw a hit and miss engine he built using his lathe after he moved on from this world. He also made a boiler and a small area oil furnace for the nippy winters out in the garage when he was working on cars. He had a few seasoned cars that he would do work on each evening while listening to tunes and drinking. He worked in the heating industry so he actually knew a lot about both heating and cooling the current property for the seasons. He was a very superb Grandpa to me, showing me all the unusual things he managed to learn over the years for saving currency around the dwelling. I was able to repair my own air conditioning equipment thanks to him and saved a pretty good amount of currency on repairs. I miss my Grandpa a great deal, but have kept all the things he has taught me to this very day.
