The air conditioner expert talked to us about radiant barrier

Climate change isn’t a joke, and we found that out the hard way last summer.

We live in a generally dry area and experience quite hot summers. We had chosen to relocate to the area a decade ago for work. It was different from the area we grew up in, but my hubby and I loved it alot. As snow seemed dreamy, I was never looking forward to living in such mountainous areas again. Still, our new home wasn’t perfect, and we had to make adjustments over the years. Instead of a heating system, we invested in a quality cooling unit. The heat went on for months which meant we had to find ways to keep the house cool. Last summer was a little different in that we experienced the worst and longest heatwave ever. From the start, summer was quite hot. We had to keep adjusting the cooling unit to keep the house warm. When it was finally time to pay the energy bill, we were in shock since it had more than doubled. Hoping to find a solution for this, we contacted an area AC business to speak to an expert. An air conditioner expert came by our house a few hours later. This was the first time we heard about radiant barriers that we’d install in the house’s attic. Radiant barriers would reduce summer heat in the house, thus lowering the cooling expenses. These barriers were made using effective material that would block the hot sun rays and keep our home cooler. Adding the radiant barriers wasn’t cheap, but we knew this was an investment worth making to lower cooling costs.
