I couldn’t believe how cold it became overnight during the past evening.
The temperatures dropped to around negative 20 degrees fahrenheit! I guess for some people, that’s nothing.
Me on the other hand, I came from a warm climate where we hardly ever had to use the heating system. It never snowed, but there was a rare moment once when we did get hail for a brief period of time. That was one of the few occasions when we ever had to turn on the heating system. Well, having moved to a new location, I thought it would be easy to adjust. It has been difficult though! I had to get used to the fact that we need multiple sources of heating in the home. Now we have multiple area heating devices, a gas furnace, and a couple of fireplaces. We even have one electric fireplace that we use in the bedroom. Well, with it being so cold, I ended up asking my wife if the kids should even be going to the bus stop. It was negative 8 degrees around this time, and she agreed that it was just too cold. Even when I went outside, I was freezing my butt off and I couldn’t deal with such cold weather. It’s just something that I never experienced where I come from. When the sun came up, things started to warm up and we were finally out of the negative temperatures. Unfortunately, the kids were all fighting and raising a ruckus, so my wife said, “That’s it, all of you are going to school right now!” I went out to the van to turn it on and put the heating system on so they would be comfortable on their ride to school.
