It sends the conditioned air through ductwork that runs inside the attic plus delivers comfort by way of supply plus return vents cut into the ceilings. The device is enormous plus unbeautiful. It’s rusted plus truly noisy. It frequently startles myself and others when it starts up. The two of us expected to need to substitute it within the year. We’ve now lived in the new home for nearly more than 2 years plus the system continues to operate. It really handles the dire summer time heat plus humidity. It struggles a bit in the winter. Fortunately, the temperature in our local area rarely drops below 40 degrees. On the coldest afternoons, the system sometimes freezes over. We’ve purchased a portable electric furnace to supplement. We’ve only had a single problem with the device so far. I observed warm air coming from the vents when it was set to cooling mode. I called for repairs, fully expecting to substitute the whole system. The worker found a small refrigerant leak. He told us the system is too seasoned to find substitutement parts. He refilled plus recharged the refrigerant plus said to hope for the best. So far, that solution is holding up just fine.
