Fortunately, the temperature in our local part rarely drops below 40 degrees. On the coldest afternoons, the system sometimes freezes over. We’ve bought a portable electric gas furnace to supplement. We’ve only had 1 complication with the unit so far. I noticed hot air coming from the vents when it was set to cooling mode. I called for repairs, fully expecting to upgrade the whole system. The professional found a small refrigerant leak. He told us the system is too outdated to find upgradement parts. He refilled plus recharged the refrigerant plus said to hope for the best. So far, that solution is holding up just fine.
