When we were younger, our father never believed in investing in a central cooling system.
We just had a central heating program along with a fireplace, however and you better feel we utilized that fireplace all the time, then our father had us out there cutting wood all the time so we’d always have a big enough stack to help us get through the Wintertide months! Most of the time, we would run out of wood towards the end of the Wintertide plus we’d find ourselves out there cutting more wood to help keep the heating costs low with the central furnace.
I always asked why we couldn’t have a central cooling system. Eventually, I think it was bothering our Mom, plus he finally got everybody their own window AC unit. Nobody expected that, but it was pretty nice. He didn’t adore spikes in the weekly bills though, so he would always tell us not to crank the AC too much plus to never leave it running when we were not in our home offices. He always changed the furnace filters, but he never did anything much to improve the air quality in the apartment apart from the occasional HVAC duct cleaning which really did help a lot. To this afternoon, I have been trying to get my father to invest in a fine central cooling program plus an air purification program for the sake of his health plus Mom’s. He’s honestly stubborn in his seasoned ways though. It took myself and others forever to convince him to get a smart control unit. In the end, it was when I told him about the energy savings, plus that’s when he chose to get a single.
