I learned a lot about HVAC technology

I recently decided to attend a workshop at one of the nearby home improvement stores, and this particular workshop was for ladies only and was all about your heating and A/C system! Since I know nothing about how a heating and A/C system works, I was afraid I would be embarrassed in the class, it turns out though, that most people do not know how the heating plus cooling systems work in your house! This is especially true for ladies.

I know that I know how to turn on the heating and cooling! Also, if it’s too sizzling in the house, turn the control unit down a little. Anything more than that, and I am lost. That is when I discovered that most heating and A/C systems are called forced air heating plus cooling systems. That means that the air that comes out of the vents that is cold while in the summer plus warm while in the winter is pushed through the air duct and into your rooms. I constantly just called it heating or cooling, and I never knew that there was something called forced air systems. Anyway, that was the first thing I l gained. The second thing I learned was how to troubleshoot when the AC doesn’t seem to be working. I learned that if the outside AC unit seems to be running normally, but there is no air coming out of the AC vents, the concern is likely with the AC blower. If I went and turned down the air-conditioning control unit and there was still no air coming out of the air vents, I would need to check something plus I could be reasonably sure that it was the AC blower that was the problem. I also learned that it is particularly sparse for an heating and A/C control unit to break. I constantly thought the control unit was the thing that was easily broken because one time 30 years ago our AC was broken plus it turned out to be the control unit. It was not until this month that I learned that that is particularly rare.
