Working on the top floor of the building is difficult in the summertime.
Whenever I got a promotion a couple of years ago, I thought that working on the top floor was the culmination of years of dreams! I always wanted to work up on the top floor because that was where all of the head bosses worked.
I always wanted to move on up in the company, both literally and figuratively. Anyway, I got a rude awakening that first summer when I started working up on the top floor. I had never been up there during the summer before, and I did not realize that the temperature upstairs was so much hotter than the rest of the building during the summer months. It was really miserable during July and August. I think that there is something wrong with the ventilation system up there because the air conditioning just doesn’t seem to do what it’s supposed to do. But now that I have been up there a couple of years, I have learned a few tricks. Last summer, I brought in one of those little personal air conditioning systems to put on my desk just so I could try to keep cool. I don’t understand how the important people in the building walk around in three piece suits all day during the summer months. I think that it is still miserably hot up there, and they really need to have something done about the central air conditioning system in the building. You would think that they would try to make the upstairs more comfortable!
