Back when I was in high school, which was almost thirty years ago now, there wasn’t any air conditioning in the buildings at all. I used to have to go to school whenever the temperatures outside were in the 90s. They never let us out of school due to heat advisories or anything like that. Kids these days really don’t know how good they have it. I know that just sounds like something that old people say, but that’s really how it is these days. I remember being so hot when I was in class in the afternoons that it was nearly impossible to stay awake after lunch. I hated the fact that there was no air conditioning in the school buildings when I was growing up. I thought that it was ridiculous that nobody had air conditioning in the schools down there in the south where I used to live. The temperatures are really awful during the summer and early fall in the south and people just don’t seem to understand the need for central air conditioning in schools. I don’t know why people seem to think that kids don’t need air conditioning as much as adults do. I always had a really hard time concentrating in school anyway, even when it wasn’t super hot outside. Having no air conditioning made it ten times worse and it was rough being in class. I’m glad that most of the schools around here where we live now actually do have air conditioning in most of the classrooms. It makes life much easier.
