I honestly just don’t know where my head was at.
There’s no doubt that I was fully aware of how long we’d been in our house.
Even if I didn’t know for sure, the kids were off to college so that might have been a clue. Still, I just didn’t think about the age of the HVAC equipment. Actually, I didn’t think much about the HVAC equipment at all. When we bought the house, the first thing we did was to replace the old HVAC unit. The final price of the home was negotiated heavily in our favor because we were willing to take on that heating and cooling project. That allowed us to upgrade a bit when it came to the sort of quality heating and air that we wanted. Soon after, we joined the HVAC service plan offered by our HVAC company. That took all the HVAC maintenance stuff off of us as they did all the scheduling and we just responded with our confirmation. The monthly air filter change became so routine that I’m not sure I was even associating that with the HVAC unit. So we were caught a bit off guard by the sudden demise of our HVAC unit. However, the HVAC company was right there for us and helped us make the change in heating and cooling. The HVAC contractor came to our house to inspect and to help us understand our residential HVAC options. From there, it was just agreeing to great finance terms and picking out the sort of HVAC technology we wanted. The rest was up to them and they made it all so totally easy for us.
