I’ve lived in the same area my entire life.
I was born up North, but my parents moved to the South very shortly after that.
My body is pretty accustomed to the warm climates, but it still struggles with the pollen. My allergies feel like they have gotten worse every single year. My parents have always been really good about swapping out the air filters in the HVAC system, upgrading our air purification system, and even keeping an air filter in my bedroom for extra protection while I’m sleeping. My allergies feel the worst when I am waking up in the morning, so I think the small air purifier really helps with that. However, I recently discovered that for the heating system, radiant floor heating could actually be a better option than the central heater. Central heaters blow heated air through the air ducts and out of the air vents. Since the heaters aren’t used that much throughout the year, they can tend to build up a lot of gunk and that blows out with the warm air. Radiant heated flooring eliminates the need for air vents because it simply radiates heat into the room it is in. This would be great for my allergies since I wouldn’t be breathing in any pollutants or built-up gunk. I’m not sure if swapping out the system in their house would be doable at this point, but it’s definitely something that I would like to keep in mind for the future. I would love to buy a home sometime in the next few years.
