I was thinking about getting a heat pump as my current source of heating my home, however after I looked into it more I decided that it would be just too much trouble to deal with! On top of the high cost of both the heat pump itself and the installation cost, keeping up with the service on the heat pump would be the worst of it all, but it would require more upkeep than my central heating and air conditioner does… And also I would have to pay for all the service on top of it all which also cost way more than what I do with my central heating and air conditioner, and so I just decided to stick with what I know, which is my central heat and air conditioner unit, and central heating is not my number one I have to admit, however at this phase it is the cheapest because my central heating and air conditioner works actually well and has not had any chop downs in a long time.
- I just have my central heating and air conditioner tuned up and evaluated up every season and that is it.
No additional cost or service required other than decreasing the air filter every other week. And because I buy washable air filters, that saves myself and others cash on air filters too as I can just use the same air filter for about 6 weeks before having to change over to a fresh 1. Heat pumps are a nice system and sure they may save on energy use, however for my lifestyle and my time, it is just too much.
