About four or five years ago was when the smart thermostat became the thing to buy at Christmas time. Every year it seems like there is one gift that everybody wants for Christmas, and 1 year it was a smart thermostat. That year, I did not get a smart thermostat for my HVAC system, because I never want to get anything until it has been out for quite a while. Once things have been available on the open market for several years, the price tends to go down and the improvements to the item seem to be increased. After several different brands of smart thermostats were showing up on the Home Improvement shelves, I decided to get one. Well, I really didn’t think it was going to make much difference in my life, but it sure has. I have been able to save about 20% on my heating and cooling bill each month ever since I got the smart thermostat. I have never been one to Simply leave the air conditioning setting the same all day long. I have always gone to the thermostat in the hallway as I was walking out the door and turned the AC setting up three or four degrees. It is not like I have been clueless and wasteful my whole life. Even so, I was never able to save as much as I have been since installing the smart thermostat. I’m not 100% sure why this particular AC device is so good at increasing efficiency and decreasing cost, but I am certainly glad that I purchased 1 and got my friend to install it for me. The Savings in my monthly utility bill have paid for my little thermostat at least four or five times over. My friend has not only a smart thermostat but also a mini split unit that cools the backend of her house. I am considering getting a mini split unit for my bedroom because if I do that I feel as if I can set my smart thermostat even higher when I am trying to sleep without struggling and sweating. We will see what happens in a couple of years.
