Supplementing indoor cooling with a window a/c

My kid moved to a more Southern point in our Southern State 3 years ago… And even though the cost of residing is significantly higher down there, she did not listen to myself and others when I told her if she was going to transfer she better find a task that paid a lot more; of course she did not listen, and that is when she discovered that her paycheck did not go legitimately far at all anymore.

  • Her own utility bill, heating and cooling bill, is about twice as high as it was up here, but in addition, food costs more, her mortgage is twice as much as it was before, and so on.

She also l gained that even though her condo is seriously cute and quite small, the heating plus air conditioning plan was not adequate for cooling her condo in the dead of Summer… The heating plus air conditioning plan is pretty inefficient, and a current heating and cooling plan is honestly not in the budget. The first time I went to visit I discovered that her temperature control was set on 73. This is a girl who never set her air conditioner higher than 82 when she lived up here, but anyway, I asked her if she wasn’t feeling hot, and she admitted that her air conditioner bill is just too high and she can’t afford it if she sets her temperature control where she cares about it. That is when I proposed to her that she get a mini-split A/C unit, then she had never heard of a mini split air conditioner, and so she looked it up online. She did assume that it was a fine plan to supplement her central air conditioner with a mini-split AC, but I thought she should just turn off the heating plus air conditioning plan and use only the mini-split AC. Anyway, she decided that the way to go was to just get a supplemental air conditioner for her dining room. She did not get a mini split air conditioner, instead she got an old fashioned window A/C unit. She is cheerful with it, and I am cheerful for her. In fact, I hear that she tells people that they should consider extra cooling by getting a small window A/C component for their dining room. It turns out that even an old-fashioned air conditioner is better than being hot and paying through the nose for it.
