The barn on our property doesn’t have any air conditioning and that’s how it should be, in my opinion. My son, on the other hand, thinks that his horse is going to be so uncomfortable this summer without air conditioning that he is literally begging me to do something about it. I don’t think that there has ever been a horse who actually needs air conditioning, but he doesn’t seem to see it that way at all. I guess I do have to take into account the fact that my son treats this horse like it’s his own child or something. He has had it ever since he was about three years old, and the horse is really his best friend. But when he started talking about putting air conditioning out in the barn this year, I had to put a stop to it. I think that he would let the horse sleep in his room with him if he could. Half the time, he is out there in the barn with the horse at night and I have to go out there looking for him. The kid doesn’t even sleep in the air conditioning himself; I don’t know why he thinks that the horse needs it. Anyway, I keep telling him that animals don’t need the same kind of indoor air quality that we need, but he does not buy it. He is very persuasive and very insistent about things like this. Maybe I’ll just tell him that if he wants to do it, then he’s going to have to call the HVAC company himself and set up a payment plan.
