The dehumidifier removes excess moisture from the air

My wife and I had a major leak in the kitchen.

We didn’t realize water was leaking under the sink until the water started to come out from underneath the door.

We rarely go into the area below the sink. We keep old cups and dishes down there that we don’t use anymore. It’s honestly more like an extra trash can then storage. When we noticed water coming out of the door, I shut off the sink so we could identify the problem. Unfortunately for us, the problem was already pretty severe. The leaking water was actually in the wall behind the pipes. The wall was wet and the floor was saturated too. We contacted a plumbing company to help with the repair. They brought us a dehumidifier to get rid of the moisture in the air and in the wall. The portable dehumidifier was small enough to fit underneath the sink. The guy put a tube from the dehumidifier into the sink so the moisture could drain back into the sink instead of onto the floor. When the dehumidifier was placed under the sink, the moisture levels were around 75%. After we let the dehumidifier run for 3 days in a row, the moisture levels were closer to 40%. Running the dehumidifier kept us from getting mold and mildew in the house. After that plumbing problem, my wife and I are more careful about looking under the sink once or twice a week. We weren’t being vigilant last time, but we won’t make that same mistake again in the future.
