I took the kids for a drive last weekend.
I wanted to show them all of the pretty lights around the city.
We ended up on some back roads near the edge of the county. There were a couple of houses with really pretty Christmas lights out there. We were easily 40 or 50 minutes away from our home when I realized there was a problem with the heater. I had the heat running on full blast, but it suddenly stopped blowing hard. When I turned the heat down to the lowest setting, barely anything at all was coming out of the vents. It started to get cold in the car quickly. My kids were in the backseat and they were complaining about the cold and frigid temperatures. I told the kids that we were going back to the house as quickly as possible. By the time we got home, the kids were shivering and very cold. I turned on the furnace in the house and lowered the temperature so the machine would come on quickly. I took the kids to the bathroom so they could get a warm bath. I also turned on the space heater in the bathroom so it was warm and toasty inside of that room. It took some time for the rest of the house to warm up, but the kids were much warmer after they got a bath and a cup of hot chocolate. In the morning, I took the kids to school and then I went right to the car dealership so they could check on the problem with the heating system.
