My mother has Alzheimer’s & at times she comes off with some really ridiculous things, and last night, I fixed her number one dinner of steak & baked potatoes! She had the butter & sour cream on her potato when she looked at me & told me she could not eat yet. I asked her if there was something wrong with the food, & she said it was not terrible. She just could not eat yet. I thought I may have forgotten to take her medicine, & she knows she needs to take it before she chooses to eat. I looked at the packet, however the pills were gone. I sat down next to her & I started eating.. She stopped my fork halfway to my mouth & told me we had to wait for the Heating & Air Conditioning serviceman. I didn’t actually recall calling the Heating & Air Conditioning serviceman, however she thought I had. She said she would not eat until the Heating & Air Conditioning serviceman got there. I asked her who invited the Heating & Air Conditioning serviceman for dinner. Of course, she only rolled her eyes. She called me by her sister’s name & told me she asked him to dinner to meet mom & dad. She wanted to introduce him to dad & get his approval to date the Heating & Air Conditioning appliance serviceman. I thought she was talking about dad, although he wasn’t a Heating & Air Conditioning serviceman, or at least not as far as I knew. When dad came in from outside, he sat down to eat his dinner. She grabbed his hand & told him she knew he would actually arrive… Dad gave her hand a squeeze & said he would never miss a dinner with such a beautiful girl such as her. Dad was her Heating & Air Conditioning serviceman.
