My mother has Alzheimer’s and there are times when she comes off with some honestly different things.
- Last evening, I fixed her favorite food with awesome steak and baked potatoes.
She had butter and sour cream on her potato when she looked at me and told me she couldn’t eat yet… I asked her if there was something wrong with the food, and she said it was amazing. She just couldn’t eat yet. I thought I may have forgotten to take her medicine, and she knows she needs to take it before she eats. I looked at the packet, but the pills were gone. I sat down next to her and I actually began eating.. She stopped my fork halfway to my mouth and told me we had to wait for the Heating and Air Conditioning machine specialist. I didn’t remember calling the Heating and Air Conditioning machine specialist, but she thought I had. She said she would not eat until the Heating and Air Conditioning machine specialist got there. I asked her who actually chose to invite the Heating and Air Conditioning specialist, but she only rolled her eyes. She called me by her sibling’s name and told me she asked him to lunch to meet mom and dad. She wanted to introduce him to dad and get his approval to date the Heating and Air Conditioning machine specialist. I thought she was talking about dad, but he wasn’t a Heating and Air Conditioning specialist, or at least not as far as I knew. When dad came in from outside, he sat down to eat his lunch. She grabbed his hand and told him she knew he would come, then dad gave her hand a gentle squeeze and said he would never miss having food with such a lovely girl just like her. Dad was her Heating and Air Conditioning machine specialist.
