The superintendent didn’t believe me when I said there were bugs in the air vents.

I had been living in the same apartment for the last three years, and I had never had a problem.

I got the apartment when I moved south to go to college.

It was clean, cheap, and there were other students living there. I came home from work one evening, and there were bugs coming out of the air vents. I thought I was seeing things, but these little black bugs were going in and out of the air vents. I called the superintendent, but he didn’t believe me. He said there was no way bugs could be coming out of the air vents. If there were, they would be in every apartment, since we shared the ductwork. Over the next three days, more tenants were calling about bugs coming out of the air vents. The superintendent had to do something, but he wasn’t doing it with a smile. He was grumbling every time he saw one of us. One afternoon, there was a sign on the bulletin. Everyone had to find someplace to stay over the weekend. The apartment building was being cleaned, sanitized, and debugged, and no one could come back in for three days. They found a huge infestation while doing an inspection of the ductwork. A bunch of us got together and rented three large rooms at the local hotel. We had excellent air conditioning and no bugs coming from the air vent. We also had a pool, which we didn’t have at the apartment building. If we had enough money, we may have stayed there since we only had three more months until college graduation.
