We went to see a friend in a play the other night, and everything did not go as expected.
First of all, the place was way more crowded than any of us ever dreamed that it would be. After all, it was just a small holiday play at a church in the neighborhood. I guess we never thought about it selling out and being standing room only or anything like that. It wasn’t like they were professional actors or singers or anything like that! Anyway, the whole neighborhood turned out to be supportive to all of the actors and the kids in the play. The play itself was pretty good, for what it was. However, there was an issue with the indoor air quality in the room that the church was putting on the play in. The room, even though it was a large room, was much too small for the number of people who showed up to see the play. The indoor air quality in the room was just terrible. Part of the problem was the fact that they couldn’t open any of the windows in the room because they were all fixed windows! I guess you can’t make stained glass in double hung windows. It was terrible because the play was over an hour long and we were all so hot that we were ready to leave by intermission. They had the heating running in that place from the moment we arrived until the moment that we left. I think that the body heat that everyone was giving off made the temperature even higher!
