I’ve Been Lowering My Utility Bill

I’ve been trying to lower our utility bill for over a year now! Next to our mortgage payment, our utility bill is our hour highest biweekly expense.

  • I can control our heat and air USge, so I’ve been trying to run our Heating, Ventilation, and A/C method more efficiently.

I started by hiring an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional twice per year to repair our Heating, Ventilation, and A/C method before the change of seasons. I assume it seems counterintuitive to pay someone to come repair the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system, however it has saved me a lot of time and money. I was regularly paying for some kind of maintenance to our Heating, Ventilation, and A/C method throughout the year, however the biannual Heating, Ventilation, and A/C servicing has proven to be cheaper. I’ve also been replacing our air filter an extra numerous times per year. The Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional will switch out our dirty air filter for a clean one whenever he comes to repair the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system, and then I switch it out numerous more times throughout the year. A clean air filter allows the air to flow freely into our house and I don’t have to worry about our blower working harder to heat or cool. The next thing I do is adjust our control unit by a few degrees before leaving the house. There’s no point in making our oil furnace or air conditioner run while I’m not there. The Heating, Ventilation, and A/C method will still run while I’m away to some degree, however it’s not nearly as much… Lastly, I started keeping our outside unit clean. I trim all the bushes around it and I wash the dirt off the coils. A clean outside unit makes everything run more efficiently. All of this Heating, Ventilation, and A/C maintenance has dropped our utility bills by at least 30%.
