The hotel didn’t have heat.

I got up, dressed, and packed our things

We were traveling cross country to visit my sister. We got about halfway to our destination, and were traveling through the desert when we decided to stop for the night. No one had ever told me that the desert gets cold at night, so finding a hotel that didn’t have heat, wasn’t a big deal. We walked into the restaurant, and it was so nice that we knew we had made a good choice. The room was decorated in native American motif, and it was beautiful. My husband was looking at the HVAC system and said it was odd how it was only set for air conditioning. It was chilly in the room, and we shut the AC unit off. We were just crawling into bed, and I was beginning to shiver. We talked about calling the front desk to get some blankets, but he didn’t think it would get that cool. I curled up in bed, but the sheets were cooling sheets, and it was even colder. I called the front desk and asked about blankets. They told me there was one in the top of the closet, and we could use it. I pulled the blanket down and put it on the bed. Even with the blanket, we were shivering by 2 AM. I curled as close to my husband as possible, but it wasn’t working. I got up, dressed, and packed our things. I looked over in time to see my husband putting his shoes on. He said it would be warmer in the car, and since we were heading to the car, we may as well start the rest of the journey early.
