I told my boss that there was a problem with the ductwork above the laundry room, but the biggest issue was the fact that some of the braces were rusty and falling apart.
The ductwork above the laundry room has absolutely been there for 30 years or more and the place is constantly wet.
Everything has rust or mold, so sometimes I wonder why the building has not been condemned by the city. There are 30 strange apartments in the building. We have one central laundry area for the leaseholders. The laundry room is significant in size. There are some laundry rooms that only have two washing machines and dryers. We have a dozen of each and the laundry room is open 24 hours a day for all of our leaseholders. There are also close circuit cable cameras running 24 hours a day to make sure that the area is safe. My boss installed all of the CCTV cameras, however he did not want to spend money for new HVAC duct. It can be truly frustrating to tell someone that there is a problem and then they do not do anything about it and so something bad happens. That was exactly what happened in this situation. I was repairing a washing device in the laundry room when the ductwork fell and went right through the ceiling. Pieces of the drywall fell down on top of the laundry room. It was not damaged in the accident, but it could have been very bad, then after that, I got a pretty important promotion and a nice raise.
