It’s not all that tough to get the most out of your heat pump during the summer.

I’m definitely thankful when I come home to the central air conditioning of my house. I walk through the door and then hit immediately with crisp cooling air. But I don’t pay exorbitant prices for the pleasure. I simply follow some basic tips in order to reduce cooling costs. It starts with HVAC maintenance because the heat pump needs to be ready for the summer load. And the air conditioning tune up ensures the heat pump is running at top efficiency. From there, it’s seal the house tight and pull the blinds to mitigate direct sunlight heating. I also follow the 15 degree rule when it comes to programming the digital thermostat. I never have the thermostat set any more than 15 degrees cooler than the peak heating hours of the afternoon. It’s just that simple to save bit on air conditioning costs.
