There are times when Linda stops and reminisces about her childhood.
This was a time when life was much straight-forward.
The only thing she was responsible for was to keep her room clean, getting superb grades in school, and to complete her daily chores. There was no work to go to, no bills to pay, no food to prepare, everything was taken care of by her family. Of course, playing was always top of Linda’s list and as long as she got all her chores done, she could play for as long as she wanted. Linda’s beach house was a single family home with a finished basement, where her mom used to hang out all the time. Linda used to sneak down into the basement when she was tired of playing inside her room. The basement was pretty cool. It had the biggest TV in the house, and there were also some pretzels that Linda used to sneak and eat. The best area was, it had a window A/C unit, so it always felt superb down there. The only other room in the beach house that had A/C was her parents’ room. Linda used fans inside her room to keep cool when the weather was tepid outside. Only several houses in her village had air conditioning, so Linda was pretty lucky to have 3 window units inside her home. Nowadays, having air conditioning is a normal thing and most folks, including Linda, take this luxury for granted. While she loves modern luxuries like having central air conditioning, Linda does sometimes wish that she could return to the straight-forward life she had as a kid.
