It was a long night inside the zone controlled HVAC of the office after I was given a promotion I really couldn’t refuse.
I knew as well as the bosses that had I declined the promotion and relocation, that would be the stopping point of my career.
I don’t think they would have fired me but I know that my career trajectory would be forever stunted. I also knew that I so didn’t want to leave this office or the house we had just finished renovating. I mean that was the whole point of getting to the corporate headquarters. Fpr nearly 15 years, I had been willing to move and relocate over and over again in order to advance my career. But the end goal for me was getting to the corporate offices. Sure, The zone controlled HVAC is pretty excellent as are the many other amenity packages that go with working at corporate. The main reason that I was so excited about getting here was actually settling down and being able to buy a house. My wife and I did just that and completely renovated that home. As part of the renovation, we put in the latest in residential HVAC along with all the HVAC technology you could ever want. It’s an amazing HVAC situation in that house. From the smart thermostat to the zone controlled HVAC, we had it all. So how was I going to tell my wife that I’ve been made an offer I really couldn’t refuse? I sat for a long time in my office that night trying to figure out just the best way to talk to her. We ended up moving and I took that job. But I sure do miss our home and that remarkable residential HVAC.
