I knew the first time I saw my wife’s face that this was going to be the house.
And I also realized in that moment that we were going to have a whole lot of work ahead of us.
But, that was just the way it was going to be. I had been given a promotion that came with a relocation. Normally, that wouldn’t be so bad as this is the norm in my industry. However, after nearly 15 years of my wife following me around the country to further my career, we had settled down and bought our dream home. I had finally made it to corporate and we figured the relocating days were behind us. That led to really putting down roots in the community and enjoying our home. We had a yard big enough for a garden and a kitchen that was the envy of the neighborhood. We also enjoyed the very best in residential HVAC and HVAC technology as well. It felt like all that effort in my career had finally come to fruition. But the pandemic nearly wrecked our company. So it has been all hands on deck for a while now. That meant a lot of travel for me that was outside the zone controlled HVAC of the corporate headquarters. And eventually, I got my marching orders to take over the worst of the regional offices which would be at least a 3 or 4 years commitment. That meant leaving the home we loved. So I promised my wife that she could choose the home we lived in and we’d do whatever renovating we needed to do to make it home. The first thing we had to address was the heating and cooling. Since the ductwork was worthless, we went with a ductless multi split system and it’s the best.
