I used to chalk up feeling chilly in our apartment to the fact that I’m not exactly accustomed to this type of winter. So I tended to just be chilly or turn up the control unit. However, the heating bills would have been through the roof if the two of us had let the gas oil furnace run the way the two of us wanted to, and the people I was with and I moved further north a few years ago in order to be nearer to our parents as they get older. Both sets of parents are within 30 to 45 minutes from where the two of us live. And they are at the age that they need some help. The people I was with and I lucked out and found a beautiful older home. It had been newly renovated when it comes to the living room and the Heating, Ventilation & A/C device among other aspects. But the home is still an older structure and it didn’t easily dawn on me that this might be the reason for the heating concerns. A neighbor loaned me an instant read temperature gun to find the heating leak. It took me a while but I finally found it. There was a window on the first floor that had no insulation at all. It’s care about whomever put in that window just threw it in. And it wasn’t all that long ago because the previous owner had all the windows updated with double pane windows. Now that I have that window all sealed up, I am hoping for some reprieve from the high cost of the heating. The gas oil furnace should run a lot less this year in order to make our apartment cozy warm.
