Eventually I will need to replace our heating and cooling system.
The unit is 18 years old and makes a horrible, high pitched whistle noise from outside.
The outdoor unit sounds like it is screaming occasionally. It is difficult being outside when it does this. I called the local HVAC company and got the unit totally cleaned. I even replaced parts on the machine the HVAC tech recommended. I did everything I could think of. The guy finally admitted that unless I wanted to replace the whole unit, no more repairs could be made. I did some research online and my brand of HVAC is known to be quite loud. Additionally, the year my HVAC came out was also said to make the whistle sound. I found others online that suffer from the same issues as I do. They have done all the cleanings, oilings and tightening of parts like I did. Nobody has been able to fix the issue. So I now need to just endure a loud machine and wait for it to die. Once it quits, I can get a new HVAC system that is totally quiet. I refuse to change my heater and a/c out until it dies though. The system works perfectly fine. If you are inside the house you don’t even notice the whistle sound. I am hesitant to entertain people outdoors though due to the noise. It is so loud, awful and embarrassing. Right where I would seat people is where the HVAC is located too. It would be hard to talk over it.
