I was surprised at home much I liked yoga

I learned that I need to be surrounded by motivated people, because I don’t have a lot of motivation coming from inside myself.

I used to work out a lot, and play a couple of sports just for fun, but once the quarantine hit I basically got lazy and stopped doing anything.

I think this is true for a lot of people, but I slammed on the brakes during lockdown, and started putting on a lot of extra weight. My metabolism is very slow, so I need to stay active every day, because this is what happens when I don’t!! Without the people at the gym to keep me motivated, I just tend to sit around and watch a lot of television. A friend of mine works as a personal trainer, and he suggested that I find an online health coach to keep me motivated. I said that wouldn’t work, because I would never pay someone just to talk to me about personal fitness from far away. His next suggestion was that I try out yoga, because I didn’t need motivation for that, and I could do yoga while watching TV. I was reticent at first, but after watching a thirty minute yoga training video on TV and trying out some of the stretches, I found that I really liked it. Yoga doesn’t seem very intense, but when you put yourself into it deeply, you can really loosen up your body and get a great result. I feel so much more limber, and even stronger, after just a few weeks of doing yoga at home.
